Lessons

A handful of landmark notes and two mnemonics cover almost the whole staff — the rest is a couple of oddballs worth knowing by name. Each lesson unlocks once you can name every note taught so far — no rushing ahead, but you can always revisit ones you've already got.

Songs

Simple, familiar tunes built from the notes you're learning. Name each note as it arrives — get it wrong and it just comes back around, no penalty — and you'll hear the real tune as you go.
Each tune is rated from the music itself — how many letters it uses, how far apart they sit, how often it leaps rather than steps, and how varied its note lengths are. Hover a badge to see what made it that.

Pulse

Notes arrive on the beat and you name each one as it lands — in the gold zone, on the click. Everything you learned about reading, now with a clock running.
Accuracy and timing are scored separately, so a run tells you which of the two is letting you down. Score 75% to open the next speed.

Test

Twenty notes, note names off, no hints — and no early exit, so every run is the same length and two scores mean the same thing.
Score 85% or better to open the next speed. Tests don't count toward your lifetime stats: this is a measurement, not practice.

Compose

Click the staff where you think a note belongs — it snaps to the nearest line or space and writes the letter underneath, so you find out what you actually placed. Pick a note length first; click a note you've placed to select it, then change its length or delete it. Rest writes silence of whatever length is chosen — it is a modifier like the dot, not a fifth shape.
One line out? Nudge it with ↑ / ↓ instead of deleting and re-aiming — it moves a step at a time and plays the new pitch. ‹ › walk the selection along the tune, so a whole melody can be corrected note by note without clicking each one. With nothing selected, ↑ / ↓ move the note you just placed.

Your progress

Every attempt across every mode feeds this — it's what decides which notes come back for review.

What you've covered

The twenty lessons run in three strands, and the three modes below them each keep their own record. Nothing here is hidden until you unlock it — what's left is as visible as what's done.

Note mastery

Mastery weighs recent accuracy most, then overall accuracy, then response speed — a slow-but-correct note still counts.

Dictation

You hear a bar and write it on the staff — pitch and length both marked. The starting note is named for you; everything after it you work out by ear.
Replay the bar as often as you like: being able to hear it again is not cheating, it is what dictation is. Score 85% to open the next tier.
