What’s on the piano poster

  • Finger Numbers & C Position: 1 for the thumb to 5 for the little finger, both hands placed on the keys, with Middle C marked.
  • Piano Keyboard: one octave, white keys named, and both names for every black key.
  • The Grand Staff: treble and bass clef joined by a brace, with landmark notes (Bass F, Middle C, Treble G) to read from.
  • Scale Fingering: C, G, D and F major for each hand, with the places the hand moves marked. All 12 major scales are on the piano scales chart.
  • Chords on the Keys: the six main chords of C major on small keyboards, root marked. For all 24 major and minor chords, see the piano chord chart.
  • The Pedals: sustain, soft and the middle pedal, and how pedal marks are written.
  • Note & Rest Values, Articulations and Dynamics: how long, how short and how loud.

The keyboards keep piano colors, black and white, so they look like the real thing. A4 holds the four sections a beginner needs first; A2 and larger have all nine.

How to use it

  • Prop it on the music stand: an A4 copy beside your music shows finger numbers and the grand staff while you play.
  • Learn the landmarks first: find Middle C, Treble G and Bass F on the poster’s grand staff, then on the keys, and read other notes as steps from them.
  • Scales in short bursts: play one scale from the poster each day, hands separately, following the finger numbers.

Learn it step by step

The poster is a reminder; these free lessons and guides teach each part, with notes you can play and hear.
